My Best Tips for Trips

Over the years I have come to learn that there are a few things that maybe every traveller should know or do. Whether you're traveling with family, friends, or all on your own these things will help you to have a more stress free vacation, I think. Anyway isn't that what vacations are suppose to be about. So here are a few of my tips for enjoying yourself as much as possible.
Always have patience. I know, I know easier said than done, but if you can get into the mind set that this is a vacation and it's ok to slow down and wait for things it may help. Buuuuuut what if you have a schedule you have to keep. Well that brings me to my next tip.
Get there early. Whether you have a scheduled time for some event or you want to ride all the rides at an amusement park get up early, and get there early. Especially if you get early entrance, take advantage of it.
Do things you wouldn't normally do, but always wanted. Let's face it there are always things preventing you from doing the things you want to do. For example: You can't make goofy faces at your boss because you would probably get fired, You also can't dress up as your favorite character to go into the office. Listen you're on vacation and most likely you'll never see any of these people again. So dress up, do goofy things, and sometimes just act downright immature. If people laugh, laugh along with them, just don't break the rules or do anything illegal. You still have to be somewhat responsible..
Things aren't going to go as planned. Be prepared for the disappointment so you won't be disappointed. I always tell my family that a vacation is not about how much you can get done, but about spending time together, or with yourself, We may go to Disney World and not get to ride very many rides, but we'll find something else to do instead.
If traveling by car remember that stopping often is crucial to your body and your mind. You really should stop about every 2 hours, unless you're like me and have to pee every 30 minutes at the beginning of every trip. Also realize that most people can only handle about 8 hours a day in the car so you may want to plan an over night stop if it's a long drive. Maybe even plan something to do at that stop so everyone can get out and stretch their legs, so to speak.
Don't forget first aid. It's inevitable that you will remember everything else that you need, deodorant, hair brush, toothbrush, etc etc, but not pack a small first aid kit. That of course will be the trip when you need a band-aid, some headache medicine, or somebody will get diarrhea. I always pack a small first aid kit, Tylenol, ibuprofen, and some form of stomach medicine. I know most places carry these thing as well, but when your child is bleeding and crying it's easier to have some handy instead of searching for some one to find you some. Don't forget to kiss the boo boo to make it feel better.
Take spares. Take spares of anything that can be lost- contacts or glasses, extra toothpaste, mouthwash, pacifiers, favorite blankets or toys etc etc
Portable back up battery. Phones, tablets, or whatever else you might be carrying will most likely get used a lot and need to be recharged at some point during the day.
Be flexible and compromising. Plans and schedules change. Some people wear out faster than others, something you enjoy may bore other people to death. So be flexible and compromise to make sure everybody enjoys themselves. Which leads to the last thing on our list.
Enjoy yourself! Take lots of photos, spend a little money on yourself and family, try new things and new food, and generally be the person you always want to be, but maybe aren't always allowed.
As always we would be happy to help you plan your next journey! Happy Vacationing!
